Silly Sailors

with the Thursday yacht club race series pushing through the spring months we were anxious to get out for some sailing and well needed practice at sea

Lucky Star proved to be a formidable opponent not necessarily beating off the competition but definitely holding solid in her class

a little offshore, a little “purple drank” we blazed out of the harbor to enjoy some light winds and some real times with good friends

taking advantage of the opportunity the sail against the epic Kauai backdrop made our in and out most enjoyable to say the least

with dawn coming early on a ship we made the call to turn in and settle down with the anticipation of the next day’s off shore invite

firm winds, surprisingly robust gusts and only a minor knock down brought us about through the mixed conditions early the next morning on race day

special thanks to Fast Company’s rag tag team for the invite and the training… we definitely weren’t first but for surely not last so please stay tuned here and www.luckystarsail.com we will be back!

  1. Mot,

How long have you had this site? Thanks for sending this address. I will send this to Kenneth (who is in Delaware) who will really appreciate seeing and reading. I so enjoyed seeing great pictures in the “big screen” as my phone screen is too small to appreciate your other pictures.

By the way, your descriptive writing is wonderful. Spot on descriptive and to the point.

Looks like a pretty nice boat. Glad you have friends who are willing to pitch in for sailing and maintenance. I’m certain that it is a monster job trying to keep up with the needs of a steel construction. I remember steel hull when we traveled on a troop ship to Viet Nam back in the 60’s and the many sign of rust due to the salt air. And THAT was an entire ship full of sailors to maintain it as well as 5,000 army troops to get duty as they felt it was necessary to keep us busy.

Thanks again! I really enjoyed hearing from you and so too enjoyed the pictures. Best of luck, good health and good fortune. Keep in touch.

    James E.

  2. Thomas, That certainly does look exciting, a great adventure of a lifetime, and the weather beautiful. I’m glad you are so happy. Exciting adventures and good friends, who could ask for more?

    James E.
